The best option for Ukraine and the former President Viktor Yanukovich is his voluntary return to Ukraine to face the justice, stated today Yuriy Lutsenko, Head of the largest Ukrainian parliamentary faction ‘’Peter Poroshenko’s Bloc”. “It would be the simplest solution for all of us, however this will not happen. We all know pretty well, that Yanukovych is not only cruel, greedy and vindictive dictator, but coward as well”, – the head of the party said.
By the forthcoming spring Ukraine has to experience the first results of the ongoing reforms, said today the Ukrainian parlamentarian Alexander Chernenko in Lviv.
“Obviously, there are high expectations and urge to do the reforms just quickly. Parliament does not meet some terms by now, we have delayed the start of reforms. But there is significant progress in judicial and police reform, the result on the anti-corruption bureau. I think that a realistic estimate of the results will be possible in spring” – said the MP.
Ukraine has a considerable amount of work in the legislative design of its European integration. “Parliament within three years has to approve more than 300 bills to implement the Association Agreement with the European Union”, – said today Ostap Semerak, head of the Ukrainian Parliamentary Committee on Association.

“There’s no total ceasefire in the Donbass region at present” – said today Anatoly Stelmach, the spokesman of the Ukrainian military counterterrorism center at a briefing. Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs and PM Anton Gerashchenko accompanying this visit of the President, in his facebook reports that Ukraine can provide itself with arms and military technology by about 35-40%, and the rest has to import. “I hope there will be an opportunity to find a daring suppliers of weapons and special equipment for the Ukrainian army” – the official said. Nevertheless, Ukraine is hoping first of all for a peaceful solution to the conflict through the mediation of international peacekeepers. The best option would be the EU police mission under the auspices of the UN, said president Poroshenko on 18 February. The same day, National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine approved the relevant appeal to the UN and the EU. Today this position was confirmed by Ukrainian Foreign Minister P.Klimkin in New York at a session of the UN Security Council. Meanwhile, some bureaucratic difficulties in this case may arise prolonging the path to the appropriate Security Council resolution. German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, warned today in his interview to Bild that it may be not easy to send peacekeepers to Ukraine quickly. At the same time, the German politician previously promised to consider the possibility of the peacekeeping mission in Donbass.
Official exchange rate of hryvnia to the US dollar, set by the National Bank of Ukraine, was today 28,35 UAH/USD. On the interbank market, the exchange rate decreased to 32 UAH/USD from 29,25 UAH/USD yesterday, February 22, thus updating the historic maximum.
